GEMINI Eye Clinic has lately reached another “world`s first”. Dr. Stodulka started performing laser cataract surgeries involving the VICTUS femtosecond laser platform in February of this year and since then more than one thousand patients have been treated by the laser.
Dr. Pavel Stodulka has also been a consultant to Bausch + Lomb and TPV companies, VICTUS laser producers and manufacturers. Surgeries performed with VICTUS laser by Dr. Stodulka have been largely visited by his colleagues from all over the world who themselves start using VICTUS laser in their eye care facilities. The last visitors were four ophthalmologists from Italy who came to witness the 1000th VICTUS surgery after they had attended Dr. Stodulka`s lectures at the ESCRS meeting in Milan, Italy at the beginning of September.
VICTUS femtosecond laser platform is the only laser platform which provides the eye surgeon with the largest capabilities in clinical applications among the currently used femtosecond lasers. The laser can be used in cataract surgeries where it enhances the higher precision as well as in refractive surgeries for creation of a corneal flap in LASIK procedures.
The VICTUS femtosecond laser platform received the CE mark approval in Europe in November 2011; and on 6 August 2012 the two companies (Bausch + Lomb and TPV) announced that it received also the 510(k) Clearance from the US FDA (US Food and Drug Association).
The Czech president, Mr. Vaclav Klaus, underwent laser cataract surgery with the us of the VICTUS femtosecond laser platform in GEMINI in Zlin earlier this year.
