Dr. Bohdan Pomahac visits Dr. Stodulka at Gemini Eye Clinic
The afternoon of Thursday 21st was not an ordinary rainy afternoon because Dr. Bohdan Pomahac – a world-known plastic surgeon of Czech origin – visited Gemini Eye Clinic to see its hi-tech premises. Dr. Pomahac lives and works in Boston, MA, USA and he is most-known for performing the first full face transplant in the United States.
He is a pioneer in the field of face and hand transplantations, and he and his team has already performed four of full face transplantations.
Together with Dr. Stodulka they opened a dialogue about the potential in cooperation between the two surgeons, particularly they have been talking about eye surgeries on people with full face transplants.
Dr. Stodulka and Dr. Pomahac were born in Ostrava, Czech Republic, and they both graduated from Palacky University School of Medicine. Both doctors left for overseas – Dr. Pomahac for the US and Dr. Stodulka for Canada. Dr Pomahac stayed in Americe, whereas Dr. Stodulka returned to his native land to apply the knowledge in the Czech ophthalmology.
