ESCRS Winter Symposium in Greece

5.3.2025

The symposium once again brought together ophthalmologists, researchers, and experts from around the world, creating a common space for knowledge sharing and professional networking. The programme included several sessions cataract and corneal refractive surgery sessions, providing a platform for the introduction of new technologies and surgical techniques.

Dr. Pavel Stodůlka, who has served as the Treasurer of this prestigious society since January this year, participated in the ESCRS 2025 Winter Symposium programme in Athens.

During the symposium, he contributed to a didactic course focused on phakic intraocular lenses, which provide a solution for the correction of higher refractive errors, especially in cases where laser surgery is not recommended. This course offered a comprehensive overview of this often-discussed method of refractive surgery.

Dr. Stodůlka also presented the new Hyperopic SMILE method for correcting hyperopia. Gemini Clinic is one of the few clinics in the world that perform this technique. In August last year, the first official surgery using the Hyperopic ReLEx SMILE method worldwide was performed there. This procedure is now available at Gemini clinics in Zlín and Prague.
