The annual ESCRS Congress in Paris was a success for the eye clinic
Dr. Stodůlka had eight lectures and training courses in the main program, making him one of the most productive participants in the congress on a European scale, and he also had six lectures at satellite events. Dr. Stodůlka, together with Dr. Zuzana Halašová, received the Avedro Award for pioneering work in strengthening the cornea with a new cross-linking method in an oxygen-enriched atmosphere.
Dr. Stodůlka´s most successful lecture was a report on the fastest laser for cataract surgery with a robotic arm developed by Keranova. The lecture was the last one in the congress program on Tuesday at 8 pm. Nevertheless, the lecture hall was completely filled with about 800 participants, who enthusiastically applauded after the lecture. Promising innovations in eye surgery, such as the change in the refractive index of the cornea or the intraocular lens with a laser, were discussed in this professional section of the congress. After the congress, Pavel Stodůlka visited the Keranova company and its laser laboratory to further develop lasers for eye surgery with the company's experts.
Another project Dr. Stodůlka lectured on CAPSULaser, a laser platform for lens surgery, which, like the Keranova laser, was first used in Zlín. Developed jointly by the Gemini Eye Clinic and Excel-Lens, Calif., CAPSULaser has been enhanced to open a lens in as little as 0.3 seconds. Other topics that Stodůlka lectured on were surgical methods to eliminate the need for reading glasses, such as the implantation of a phakic IPCL lens and biosynthetic microlens from LinkoCare.
