The first presbyopia surgery using the ReLEx Smile method in the world
In Zlín, last week, the world's first laser operation using the ReLEx Smile method for the treatment of presbyopia was performed. The chief surgeon of the Gemini Eye Clinic, Pavel Stodůlka, and his team operated on a patient with presbyopia using a new method.
This method offers some advantages, such as minimal mechanical disruption of the cornea and a reduced risk of dry eye syndrome and infection. It allows you to remove the need for both distance glasses and reading glasses.
Pavel Stodůlka and his team were thus responsible for progress in eye medicine and cooperation with the German manufacturer Zeiss. The patient was a 45-year-old neurologist from Brno, who already, on the first day after the operation, was able to read the smallest letters of Jaeger No. 1. This is another first in cooperation with the German manufacturer Zeiss, as the first farsightedness surgery using the ReLEx Smile method was also performed at the Gemini Eye Clinic in Zlín.
