The tenth anniversary of the first VICTUS laser cataract surgery in Europe

7.2.2022

The VICTUS laser was used in Europe for the first time to remove cataracts exactly 10 years ago. Cataract surgery is the most common surgical procedure worldwide - in the Czech Republic it is around 100,000 procedures every year. The VICTUS laser is equipped with a high-precision function for recognizing intraocular structures. This made the procedure more gentle and precise.

The first patient ever operated with this technique in Czech Republic was operated by Dr. Stodůlka at the Gemini Eye Clinic. Coincidentally, it was also the first person who undergo the first LASIK laser eye surgery in the Czech Republic 17 years ago. Both primacies belong to eye surgeon Pavel Stodůlka. One of the first patients to undergo cataract removal with the VICTUS laser was also the former Czech president prof. Václav Klaus.
